Healthy batch cooking ideas that kids will love. Simple, freezer-friendly recipes to keep your family nourished and mealtimes stress-free.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve spent an hour cooking, only for my kids to push their plates away. That’s why I started batch cooking meals that I knew they would eat — and if they didn’t love it the first time, at least I had it in the freezer to try again later. These recipes tick the “healthy, easy, kid-friendly” boxes.

Kid-Approved Batch Cooking Ideas
- Mini Meatloaves – bake in muffin trays for perfect portions.
- Waffles – freeze after lightly cooking in waffle maker, reheat quickly toaster.
- Hidden Veggie Pasta Sauce – blend zucchini, carrots, and spinach into tomato sauce and store batches in freezer ready to heat and add to meat and pasta.
- Mini Frittatas – egg, cheese, and veggies baked in muffin cups.
- Overnight Oats – prep jars for the week, add fruit in the morning.
- Yoghurt & Granola Bowl – simple easy protein filling, add frozen berries.
- Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole – cook double to freeze half for the next week.
- Beef & Broccoli with Rice – keep frozen broccoli on hand for a quick dinner.

Mum Hack
✨ Get kids involved. Let them sprinkle cheese, roll meatballs, or stir the muffin mix. They’re way more likely to eat what they’ve helped make. Serve a cup of chopped carrot and cucumber sticks to much on whilst waiting for dinner. Then you’ll know they’ve had “some” veggies!

Final Thoughts:
Feeding kids can feel like a full-time job, and it’s easy to lose hope when plates get pushed away. But batch cooking healthy, familiar recipes gives you options and takes the pressure off. Even if they don’t love everything the first time, you’ve got backups in the freezer and less stress on your shoulders. Start with meals they already like, add in one new idea at a time, and remember: progress matters more than perfection.
